Why should I help? Any other cleanup days? Why save the dam? The Collegeville Dam provides for fishing, canoeing, and swimming.  It hosts a variety of flora and fauna.  It is a source of drinking water down stream.  Its part of our history. The environment needs help! Yes, we will plan other clean ups in the future.  You can also contact the Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy, they need volunteers too! The society believes that if we repair the dam and improve water quality, than the environment, which is already thriving, will do even better.  The dam supplies drinking water reserves, it maintains an excellent fishing site, it maintians the water level for canoeing.  No ecological tests have been done on the ecology of this area and no tests have been done to show whats in the sediment behind the dam.  The community of Collegeville supports the dam and hopes that the Borough improves this landmark of our community heritage.

What did we find?
Our volunteers found over 30 tires! We formed a human chain lugging them up the steep banks of the Perkiomen Creek.  By removeing them, we were getting rid of a suitable habitat for mosquitoes, and we don't need West Nile Virus!
